Vitamin treatments

strengthens resistance and hair growth

Their action on hair

It’s not always easy to take a break or to prepare healthy and balanced meals. Swept along by the hectic pace of our activities, we fail to sense the fatigue setting in. But our body, in turn, pays the bill for our excesses and health compromises.

The skin and hair will be the first tissues to show signs of lassitude. In addition to being exposed to the aggressive effects of exterior agents such as cold, sun or pollution, they’re also last in line to benefit from nutriments. They suffer from lack of energy supply and protection. Hairs become more dull and brittle. The skin loses suppleness, softness and radiance. The skin, hair and nails derive the bulk of their vitality from the inner body via the nutritive elements provided to them by the organism.

Just as any other part of our organism, hair needs “fuel” coming from nutrition in order to renew themselves. Vitamin treatment by oral administration often offers a beneficial complement for people whose diet is deficient in vitamins.

Vitamin treatments cannot bring hair loss to a halt or singlehandedly generate new growth.

Vitamin treatment contributes to build resistance and hair growth, moderates sebum secretion by the sebaceous glands, hydrates dry scalps and treats different states of dandruff.

Types of Vitamins

VITAMIN B 1 OR THIAMIN

This vitamin has, among others, an anti-depressant action and facilitates carbohydrate transformation into energy. It will thus be of great use for curbing baldness originating from psychological factors through its overall relaxing effect and its stimulating effect on hair bulbs. It’s present in wheat germs, cereals and yeast as well as in dairy products and egg yolk. The recommended quantity is 2 mg daily.

VITAMIN B 2 OR RIBOFLAVINE

It’s action properties are similar to those of enzymes found in the metabolism of all our nutriments. For this reason it’s vital to all tissues in growth, regeneration or healing phase. It furthermore regulates sebum secretion and lowers dandruff production. We need 2mg daily and find it in liver, cereals, dairy products and green-leaf vegetables.

VITAMIN B 3 OR PP (nicotinic acid)

It promotes the synthesis of sex and thyroid hormones and, by its vasodilatory properties, improves nutrition of off all tissue while at the same time lowering cholesterol by stimulating those proteins charged with eliminating it. (HDL’s or good cholesterol). We find the 10 grams needed in liver, cereals, fish and meat and dry fruit. Vitamin B3 contributes in particular to maintaining the skin and hair’s vitality.

VITAMINE B 5 OR PANTOTHENIC ACID

It improves digestion, increases stress and fatigue resistance, boosts the immune system and prevents hair loss by a not yet completely explained mechanism associated to vitamin B 8 or biotin. We find it in large quantities in royal jelly, dairy products, germinated cereals and mushrooms. The recommended quantity is 3 mg daily. Vitamin B5 contributes in particular to maintaining the hair and skin’s vitality.

VITAMINE B 8 OR BIOTYPE

It prevents hair greying, premature hair shedding and regulates sebum secretion. Consequently, it’s always associated to vitamin B5, whose characteristics are almost identical. Liver holds large quantities of it as well as dairy products and peanuts.

VITAMIN A

Is a powerful ally to the skin and to hair. It can generally be found in animal fats but our organism can also synthetise it from an equivalent called provitamin A or beta-carotene, abundantly present in vegetables. This powerful anti-oxidant is an efficient weapon for combatting cell aging.

VITAMIN E

Is also an un anti-oxidant. By its protective action on cell membranes, it contributes to our skin’s resistance and even allows to prevent sunburn ! It’s also beneficial for our eyes and arteries.

VITAMIN C

is well known for its immunising virtues. It’s also the vitamin for the epidermis. It confers resistance and softness to it by contributing to the synthesis of collagen and stimulates ceramide production, which favours skin hydration.

Poly-vitamins

OMNIVIT HAIR CARE BY SANOFI-AVENTIS

Poly-vitamins are often prescribed in case of hair loss, in particular for women.

COMPOSITION :

Vitamin B2 1,6 mg ; vitamin B3 (niacin) 12 mg; vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) 8 mg; vitamin B6 2 mg; vitamin H (biotin) 0,14 mg/DL methionine 900 mg; L-cystine 210 mg; zinc 15 mg by means of 2 pills

As growth of hair and nails is very slow, it’s essential to take Omnivit Hair Care over a minimum period of three months.

Dosage

All laboratories recommend a certain dosage to be respected, one needs to comply with it and not be tempted to exceed dosage in order to accelerate matters. Two reasons for this :

  • Either the ingested nutrients are harmless and are needlessly eliminated in the urine or by the liver,
  • Or either their overdose is harmful to the organism and can provoke disorders that are sometimes of greater severity than the one being treated ! This is the case, for example, with vitamin A, zinc or vitamin B6.

Directions for use

For isolated treatment :

In case of mild hair problems (lack of vitality of the hair due to temporary fatigue, season-related shedding, shedding following childbirth, high fever…), a vitamin therapy can act on hair tone as well as on the hair’s cosmetic qualities.

For supportive treatment :

In case a diagnosis of the hair reveals severe alopecia (hereditary, related to permanent stress…), orally administered vitamin supplements will not be able to substitute for surgical techniques and other medication inhibiting dihydrotestosterone (DHT). However, when taken as supportive treatment, they act synergistically by contributing, from within, to the correct renewal of hair.
